Fashion Friday – The Jewel Shack

This Fashion Friday is all about a gorgeous little jewellery provider called The Jewel Shack, run by Laura from Secret Diary of a Fashion Journalist.

Providing statement necklaces through Facebook, The Jewel Shack has some absolutely gorgeous pieces from The Watermelon to the Rainbow Eagle as worn by Hollyoaks’ Carley Stenson. I am a total sucker for a statement necklace and after checking out the many amazing necklaces on offer I finally settled on The Neon Knot for £11.50 and The Pistachio for £12, which personally I think are incredibly reasonably prices. Ordered on Sunday at 4pm, a parcel covered in little flowers arriving cheerily on my doorstep on Tuesday, which given I live in the Channel Islands is hugely impressive so a big thumbs up to Laura for sending them over so quickly…especially given how excited I was for them to arrive! After ripping open the parcel I was happily greeted by two tissue paper wrapped bundles, one in orange and one in green, which again I thought was a really lovely touch.

So onto the two beauties I bought….

Birthday Wish List

In a matter of weeks I will be nudging ever closer to 30, as I will be turning the ripe old age of 26. At this point in my life I am fortunate enough to be able to afford many of the bits and pieces that I might want at various points throughout the year, so when it comes to my birthday I tend to look at a few items more out of my price range that I can put birthday money towards. So some of the items I’m coveting below might seem a little pricey, but I’ve also thrown in a couple of cheaper items that I can always buy as presents for myself!

birthday wish list

1. Nails Inc ‘Feathers’ collection in York £11

2. ASOS Scallop detail satchel £28

3. Black studded camera bag-turned handbag Theit ‘Bossi’ bag £159.99

4. Topshop rhinestone cluster necklace £50

5. Marc by Marc Jacobs watch from Watch Shop was £279 now £251

6. Nails Inc ‘Concrete’ collection in Monument £12

7. Puma wedge trainers

Have you got any birthdays coming up, what are you secretly hoping to get from your nearest and dearest? Or are you like me and do you just like to buy yourself treats throughout the year, if so, remember that still counts as a present!

Big and bold necklaces

Some of you may know from my previous post Animal Magnetism that I am a huge fan of all things covered in animal motifs and prints. One thing you may also have noticed from that post is that I am also a massive lover of sheer shirts and have a vast array of prints and colours (one of which I’ve actually had to stop wearing because two other girls at work have it – thankfully I have it in two other colours!) One of my favourite ways to style these shirts is wearing them buttoned to the top with bright and bold bib necklaces, usually in contrasting colours such as bottle green and neon yellow. I always want my jewellery to make a style statement and as far as I’m concerned the bigger and brighter the better!

I wanted to share with you some of my favourite pieces from my collection, set against some of the beautiful back drops the island of Guernsey has to offer.

Most of the pieces you’ll find below were bought from Primark and New Look as they offer fantastic choice and are cheap enough you can buy several without feeling too guilty!

Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and PrettyLittleThing.com also have some excellent pieces that would make a fantastic style statement with a simple tee and bright blazer or boucle jacket. Dorothy Perkins also have a great buy one get one half price offer on their jewellery at the moment meaning you can get even more costume lovelies!

Boucle jacket from Mango was £79.99 now £23.99 (70% saving!)

Turquoise blazer from Oasis £40

Bright stone necklace from Topshop £60

Gold necklace from New Look £9.99
